WINTER 1999 NEWSLETTER
Harry B. Zehner, Jr., Traveling Fellowship Award
by Debra H. Ford, MD, FACS
Zehner Award Selection Committee Chair

During the annual business meeting, the Harry B. Zehner, Jr. Memorial Traveling Fellowship Award will be presented to a very deserving local surgical resident. The Metropolitan Washington Chapter of the College presents this award annually to recognize the achievements of an outstanding surgical resident from the local training programs. Seven highly impressive surgical residents were nominated for the award this year.

To select the recipient of the award, the selection committee reviewed nominations submitted by the local training program directors. The nominees were evaluated based on their residency experience, their future goals, and their plans for the award. Four finalists were selected and invited for an interview with the committee. The award recipient will be honored at All Surgeons Day, February 27, 1999.

The chapter has presented this award to many excellent surgical residents in the past. We look forward to maintaining this tradition in 1999.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the committee:
