WINTER 1999 NEWSLETTER
Metropolitan Washington Chapter and the American Acadeey of Surgery
by Anton N. Sidawy, MD, FACS, Secretary/Treasurer

The membership of the Washington Academy overwhelmingly approved the merger between the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the ACS and the Washington Academy of Surgery in its November 11, 1998, business meeting. In addition, the chapter Council also approved the merger. This merger will result in one entity that would run a total of three functions a year, including the All Surgeons' Day program, the Spring Dinner, and the Residents' Competitive Forum, which will now be held in November.

The membership of the chapter will vote on the merger in the business meeting segment of All Surgeons' Day, Saturday, February 27, 1999.
