Change in Leadership
The College's Committee on Trauma, recently announced the appointment of
Suryanarayana M. Siram, MD, FACS, of Howard University Hospital, as the next
Chair of the District of Columbia Committee on Trauma. Dr. Siram will succeed
me in this position beginning on November 1, 1998. The purpose of the
committee is to promote initiatives leading to quality trauma care and to
coordinate the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course and the Residents
Trauma Paper Competition in the District.
Call for Papers
- The deadline for the Residents Trauma Paper Competition is October 15,
1998.
- Eligible papers should describe original research in the area of trauma care
andVor prevention in either basic science research or clinical investigation.
To qualify, a paper must not be scheduled for publication before March 18,
1999; however, it may be presented in another forum.
- The Region III (mid-Atlantic) paper competition will take place in November.
Papers chosen in this competition will then be forwarded for consideration in
the, national competition, which will take place at the annual meeting of the
College's Committee on Trauma later this academic year. DC will serve as the
host city.
Because DC will serve as the host city for the national competition this year, it
is hoped that this first call for papers stimulates considerable interest.
Details regarding the format of submissions will be published in subsequent
newsletters and mailings.
