Leffall Award Selection Commiftee
by Anton N. Sidawy, MD, FACS
The Washington Chapter currently is accepting nominations for the recipient of the sixth LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr., Award. The award will be presented during All Surgeons Day on February 23, 2002, to the active or senior member of the chapter who best exemplifies the characteristics and achievements Dr. Leffall has shared with this community and with the College throughout his career.
Please present your nominee in writing. Nomination letters should fully illustrate the ways in which the candidate has demonstrated Dr. Leffall's qualities; that is, the letter should include specific examples of the individual's contributions to the metropolitan Washington community and provide details about his or her leadership skills. Additionally, two letters of support should accompany each nomination letter. These letters may be written by other surgeons or nonsurgeon members of the community who are familiar with the nominee's dedication to caring for and helping the residents of the metropolitan area.
The Leffall Award Selection Committee will review the nominations and choose an appropriate candidate for the award. Our recommendation will be submitted to the Executive Council of the chapter for its approval. The winner will receive an inscribed plaque and a $1,000 monetary award to be donated to a nonprofit organization charity. In addition, the recipient's name will be inscribed on a plaque that is displayed at the chapter's headquarters.
