Developing National Cancer Data Base Benchmark Reports

Course Overview

This presentation intends to help participants navigate the NCDB Web tools, in particular the NCDB Public Benchmark Reports, NCDB Hospital Comparison Benchmark Reports and the NCDB Survival Reports. Participants will explore ways to benchmark local practice patterns against aggregated data (e.g. hospital system, state, regional, and nationally aggregated data.) The audience will be encouraged to examine these reports and investigate methods in which cancer programs can make changes at the local level.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, a viewer will:

  • Understand how to navigate the benchmark report Web tools
  • Know how to utilize them in the areas of survey and approvals process, quality improvement, and community outreach and support

Intended Audience

This program is intended for members of the cancer program team including registrars, administrators, cancer liaison physicians, medical staff, and nurses as well as quality department staff and allied health professionals involved in cancer quality improvement projects.
