Improving Quality at Your Facility Using the National Cancer Data Base

Course Overview
This presentation provides participants with a primer of quality improvement theory and its relationship to the healthcare system, specifically, cancer patient care. Participants will explore ways to measure, design, implement and evaluate quality improvement practices at the local level. The presentation will also utilize NCDB resources such as the NCDB Public and Hospital Comparison Benchmark Reports and the Cancer Program Practice Profile Reports to foster quality improvement projects to help meet CoC cancer program standards requirements.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, a viewer will:
- Be familiar with the CoC's efforts in helping facilities improve the quality of care at the local level
- Understand how cancer programs can use the NCDB Web tools for examining, monitoring, planning, and evaluating quality improvement efforts
- Understand how quality improvement concepts and tools can be applied toward improving cancer patient care
Intended Audience
This program is intended for members of the cancer program team including registrars, administrators, cancer liaison physicians, medical staff, and nurses as well as quality department staff and allied health professionals involved in cancer quality improvement projects.
