FORDS: A Series of Inquiry and Response (I&R) System Questions and Answers
Presented by Nancy Etzold, CTR
Course Overview
This presentation provides information on several complex coding issues in FORDS; coding identified from I&R queries. The Inquiry and Response (I&R) System is an interactive database facilitating communication between approved cancer programs and CoC staff. Queries sent to I&R can be used to identify the issues that registry staff face in coding real cases. The topics addressed include the coding of multiple primaries, dates of first contact and initial diagnosis, class of case, diagnostic procedures and palliative care, complex treatment coding, and follow-up considerations.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, a viewer will:
- Understand some of the more complex FORDS coding issues, as reflected in questions to I&R
- Understand the context for which some of the changes in FORDS have evolved
Intended Audience
This presentation is intended for individuals who abstract, code, and review cancer data including registrars, registry data quality managers, quality of cancer registry data coordinators, and trainers.
