Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI)

2007 PQRI Measures and Codes

The quality measures specified in the statute are those measures identified as 2007 physician quality measures under the Physician Voluntary Reporting Program (PVRP) as published on the public Web site of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as of date of enactment of the statute except as may be changed based on the results of a consensus-based process in January of 2007.

The 2007 PVRP quality measures were posted on December 5, 2006 under the title "2007 Physician Voluntary Reporting Program (PVRP) Quality Measures." This December 5, 2006 document identifying sixty-six quality measures is accessible on the "Transition From Physician Voluntary Reporting Program" PQRI page. On January 22, 2007, the AQA Alliance, through its consensus-based process, adopted eight other measures. These eight additional measures are now included in the PQRI measures for 2007.

The 2007 PQRI measures specifications for the 74 measures are available below. Prior to the July 1, 2007, start date of the 2007 PQRI reporting period, this measure specifications document will be updated to include:

  1. G-code numbers cited in the document as GXXXX
  2. Denominator coding updates for measures

These coding updates may expand the applicability of the measures to additional eligible professionals. Final specifications for the 2007 PQRI measures will be published here no later than July 1, 2007.

Please visit the CMS' Educational Resources page for further information.
