Dr. Glenn will explain select concepts of the Toyota Production System, which can be utilized as a systems-based approach to improving quality and efficiency, as well as the cost of medical care. In addition, Dr. Glenn will identify the important, effective leadership and change-management skills necessary to institute a systems-based approach to quality improvement.

Increased scrutiny of disruptive behaviors has developed recently, as evidenced by the new JCAHO regulations, which become effective this year. This session will examine disruptive behaviors and how surgeons can take a leadership role in preventing and addressing these situations that affect surgical care.
